Advancing Our Mission in a Big Way

This year we are proud to celebrate WCHQ’s 10th anniversary and our many achievements. Throughout the years, our vision and mission have remained the same. We are a voluntary, statewide consortium of organizations learning and working together to improve the value of health care in Wisconsin.

It is fitting that both our mission and vision were significantly advanced by a major event also occurring in this milestone year. In 2014 WCHQ became one of 36 national entities – the only regional health care improvement collaborative – designated as a Qualified Clinical Data Registry (QCDR) by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid (CMS).

We are enthused about our new role as an approved QCDR and the many benefits it will afford our members and, potentially, other health care organizations in Wisconsin and beyond. As a QCDR, we have the ability to directly report measures to CMS for various federal quality reporting initiatives – including the Physician Quality Reporting System (PQRS) – on behalf of eligible providers. This new capability offers providers turnkey efficiency and the flexibility to use existing local measures. In addition, our QCDR designation allows us to have a strong voice at the table as CMS modifies quality reporting rules and sets measures that will determine the national direction of quality improvement.

"On the Same Team for All of Our Patients, All Across the State"

Associated Physicians, LLP, one of the newest members of WCHQ, joined in January 2014. An independent, multi-specialty medical practice consisting of 20 providers based in Madison, Associated Physicians finds tremendous value in networking and learning opportunities with other health care organizations.

“We were intrigued by what WCHQ has to offer, and although we are an independent practice of 20 providers, we’re up for the challenge. We want to know how well we’re doing, we want to see our data and we want to improve. The other members have the same passion for quality care that we do. The networking and learning opportunities are a huge benefit to us. There’s so much enthusiasm and willingness to share knowledge – it’s inspiring! WCHQ creates the feeling that we’re all on the same team for all of our patients, all across the state."

— Sherry Schneider, RN, Associated Physicians’ quality care manager, from the recently published WCHQ report: Celebrating 10 Years of Progress: Accelerating better health care. To view the entire report, click here.
